The International Australian Football Council (IAFC) is a body that was established in the aftermath of the 1995 Arafura Games, held in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia.

The Arafura Games were the first international games to have Australian rules football as a competition, rather than a demonstration sport. Papua New Guinea won the Gold medal that year and retained it in subsequent games. The national delegations that fielded Australian rules football teams met and decided to form a central body to co-ordinate efforts to promote the game in their own nations. The IAFC was founded as a result of this meeting, the first president being Will MacKenzie (New Zealand).

The IAFC has as it's stated mission: The promotion and support of Australian rules football internationally. This has caused friction with the Australian Football League, which claims that as it administers the game at the highest level of play, then it is the only body capable of doing such a task. Despite this 'clash', over thirty national Australian Football associations around the world have an affiliation with the IAFC.

Under the direction of the IAFC, several international matches have been played on a regular basis since 1997. Also, the IAFC has been active in helping new national associations get formed. The current president of the IAFC is Brian Clarke (Australia).
