Can I Log In 20:13, 23 February 2020 (UTC)- @Can I Log In:Thank you so much. Unfortunately I hadn't noticed two things in my submission - entirely my fault:
1. I now notice I'd not uppercased the 'Code' column as "NANO" - a formatting standard to match the other coin's Codes. Please could we uppercase it? 2. I'd left an extraneous, empty, 'Governance' column at the end of the table (following a template suggested.) But I think the 'Governance' column has since been totally removed from the main page's table so that final (empty) column should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Martin Audley (talk • contribs) 14:42, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

I want to add the cryptocurrency 'Cardano' (ADA) to this list. It is a 'proof of stake' currency from 2015. Former Ethereum Co-Founder Charles Hoskinson is founder of Cardano. He is launching a Enterprise Blockchain Framework in Collaboration with ethiopian government to get 15 million farmers in Ethiopia into a cryptocurrency like system.[1]
A valuation of cryptoassets published by Bloomberg is rating Cardano (ADA) on top of Speculative Velocity, Economic Velocity and Blended Velocity.[2] Kuckuckz (talk) 19:11, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

“Active” Cryptocurrencies - Poorly worded as the list is far from complete
The heading Active Cryptocurrencies implies that this list comprises all active Cryptocurrencies when it’s far far from it. There are Cryptos missing from this last that are way more notable than some that are listed. In that sense the list and heading run awful of WP:UNDUE. Their needs to be something that informs the reader this is an incomplete list. --BloofToofTechnology (talk) 12:14, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- Especially when the list of Inactive Cryptocurrencies is right underneath it. Someone coming to this page for the first time would be left with the impression that these lists comprise all Cryptocurrencies. Either a crypto is active or it’s inactive. In light of all this I would strongly recommend rethinking the policy on not listing cryptos without a wiki page. There are many cryptos with market caps in the billions that aren’t listed as active cryptos. Cryptos far more notable than some listed here. So they’re excluded because no one has gotten around to making a wiki page for them yet? What is the rational behind the policy that indisputably active well-known cryptos to have Wikipedia pages to make the Wikipedia list of active cryptos? It feels a bit self important or arrogant no? For a crypto to be granted status as a Wikipedia approved active crypto it must first be ordained to be worthy of page status by Wikipedia. I think we’ve lost the plot. BloofToofTechnology (talk) 12:36, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- Four of the top ten cryptos by market cap aren’t listed but we have oddball long forgotten gimmick cryptos like titcoin and auroracoin. Along with deeply esoteric ‘active’ (but on life’s support, or perhaps in active-inactive purgatory) cryptos like peercoin, gridcoin, primecoin, nxt etc. And I regret to inform our rare and obscure crypto fans too much but it looks like Mazacoin has passed on. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/mazacoin/ BloofToofTechnology (talk) 13:09, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- Yep... https://hackernoon.com/the-rise-and-fall-of-a-tribal-cryptocurrency-ykn3wex BloofToofTechnology (talk) 13:18, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- So the focus is on keeping cryptos off the list even though they clearly fit the category of “active cryptos” in order to protect content which has been neglected to the extent that cryptos listed as active are actually inactive and have been inactive for five years. BloofToofTechnology (talk) 13:26, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- The focus is on keeping our coverage restricted to cryptocurrencies that we can provide meaningful information about within the confines of Wikipedia's core content policies. That means independent reliable sources, and if we have those sources they should be used to write an article first. - MrOllie (talk) 12:44, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

Add ETH symbol

Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, and Cardano all show the relevant symbol for each currency along with their currency code, but not Ethereum. It'd be great if the ETH symbol (Ξ) was shown in the same way.
Please change "ETH" to "ETH, Ξ" in the symbol column of the row for Ethereum. Mirek2 (talk) 10:43, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
Add Digibyte to list of active currencies
Digibyte had a fair launch January 2014 and is one of the original UTX along with btc and ltc. Dgb is highly developed and notable. Yes/no? Peter.charles.lawrence (talk) 04:15, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
Cardano: Incorrect hash function.
Cardano's hash algorithm is BLAKE2b-224 as outlined in their specification paper (page 110) https://hydra.iohk.io/build/4975913/download/1/ledger-spec.pdf
Ouroboros is the consensus algorithm and should be listed along side its POW or POS designation if anywhere.
Reply to whoever suggested this. The column “hash algorithm” contains the hash algorithm that is used in the PoW puzzle. Cardano does not use PoW at all, so saying that it uses Ouroboros instead of a hash algorithm is correct. Cardano uses various hashes for other things, including BLAKE2b-224 and BLAKE2b-256, as stated in the above paper. IOHKwriter (talk) 11:42, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

Devcoin missing from history?
Devcoin is the 3rd ever altcoin, with genesis block dated on July 22nd 2011, released just 2 months and a half after IXCoin. Devcoin is relevant for the history of cryptocurrencies, for its influence and resilience. Dogecoin was created from a bitcoin forking tutorial published by Devcoin community. Most recently, a former dev of Devcoin created Syscoin. Devcoin is currently an active project, with an active community and active development. Devcoin is updated with latest Bitcoin's 22.x source. Devcoin innovated in the field of rewarding writers and artists for their creations, years ahead of STEEM. I would continue all day long. It is unfair to wipe Devcoin out from Crypto history. 190.237.60.162 (talk) 19:08, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
Is that noteworthy enough, Ollie? Because I can go on... I'd rather do it on a Wikipedia page though for the second most hash power UTXO SHA-256D chain in all crypto - second to Bitcoin only. I'm not being rude. I'm being factual. I have days and days of facts, footnotes, citations, and as you can see we have a team of people (hundreds) who know how to format wikis - even using the latest HTML 5, Bootstrap 3, etc. And we don't even ask people for $2.50 in donations every three months. Even though I pay yours whenever your popups ask. Devcoin is an OpenSourceInitiative.org, FOSS, blockchain-based cryptocurrency and in the earliest days of Bitcoin development it was our leaders that decided to pay those Open Source devs for their work on Bitcoin. We went broke doing it and survived. Did they kick back the favor when they made their money in 2017-2021? No. But some did. We just want to get our respect where its due. We are NOTEWORTHY. 2601:249:603:E05:93E:1C86:A4A4:EF60 (talk) 13:40, 6 March 2022 (UTC)
- No, a bunch of links that don't meet our sourcing requirements don't help at all. You must establish notability within the framework of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. That means in-depth coverage by things like major newspapers, not a collection of random external links. Please respect this community has different norms and practices than what you are apparently used to. - MrOllie (talk) 13:46, 6 March 2022 (UTC)
- Dear anon users, there was a draft at Draft:Devcoin; I suggest you request it be restored using the WP:REFUND/G13 process, or re-start it from scratch, then see if you can write it with sufficient reliable sources to turn it into a Wikipedia article. This list is only for cryptocurrencies with articles.
- I also suggest you do not post walls of non-discussion content on talkpages; such content will be deleted (as it was here). UnitedStatesian (talk) 16:27, 8 March 2022 (UTC)

YAM was a crypto-currency that was 2 days old when it imploded because of a software bug in August 2020. It's tokens reached a value of $184 million peak value before it imploded.
