The 2023–24 season is Associazione Calcio Monza's second season in the Serie A, the first level of Italian football, following their promotion in the 2021–22 season. They also competed in the Coppa Italia.[2]
Pre-season and friendlies
Monza played four pre-season friendly games in July 2023, as part of a training camp in Ponte di Legno; all games were played in Temù.[3] On 1 August, they played a friendly game away to Premier League side Everton, which finished 2–2.[4]
On 8 August 2023, Monza and AC Milan played the first edition of the "Trofeo Silvio Berlusconi", a yearly friendly game in honour of Monza president and former Milan president Silvio Berlusconi who had died in June 2023.[5] The stadium in which the game is held will alternate annually between Monza's and Milan's home stadium.[5] Milan won the first edition, beating Monza in a penalty shoot-out after a 1–1 draw.[6]

The 2023–24 Serie A (known as the Serie A TIM for sponsorship reasons or Serie A Made in Italy for abroad naming) was the 122nd season of top-tier Italian football, the 92nd in a round-robin tournament, and the 14th since its organization under an own league committee, the Lega Serie A. Napoli were the defending champions, having won their third title in the previous season.
On 22 April 2024, Inter Milan secured a 20th league title with five matches to spare, following a 2–1 victory against city rivals AC Milan. Inter thus earned the right to add a second golden star to their logo.[12]
Teams
Spezia, Cremonese, and Sampdoria were relegated after three, one, and eleven years respectively in the top flight. They were replaced by Frosinone, Genoa, and Cagliari. Frosinone returned to the top flight after four years of absence, whilst Genoa and Cagliari both returned after one year of absence.
