LAME!

Looks like your "MWT" software reverted the edits I made to the Tom Leykis entry, claiming it was 'vandalism' even though the revisions were fully commented. If you take a look at the edit history, you'll see that I actually cleaned up the page by combining similar sections and rewriting awkward prose. I object to your use of automated software to make such determinations, as I think it undoes legitimate contributions and undermines people's attempts to improve a page. I also object to Wikipedia allowing automated software to undo legitimate edits without human review. Your software must be pretty stupid and unreliable. It is definitely not an asset to the Wikipedia community, as it has a too-high margin of error.

First up, MWT is not a bot, all edits are reviewed by a human before they are reverted. The person who reverted you in this case was not me, but another editor, which you have also notified it seems. Thirdly, I'd encourage you to assume good faith on the part of our anti-vandalism crew, we are only human, and will make mistakes. Cheers and have a good evening. (or morning, maybe even afternoon wherever you are in the world) --Michael Billington (talkcontribs) 11:42, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Checkuser clerk IRC?

I don't know if this is now invite exception works, but whenever I leave the checkuser clerk IRC channel, I can't get back in. Is there any way to fix this? Cheers! P.S. Good luck at your RFA! PTO 15:30, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I wont go into the details of it, but I have set an invite exception on your nickname 'PullToOpen' now. You should now be able to join/part as you please. To prevent impersonation (other users changing nicks to 'PullToOpen' to gain access) - It would be a good idea to apply for a cloak whenever you have time. --Michael Billington (talkcontribs) 21:50, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, will do. Thank you. PTO 22:29, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Protecting certain pages on wikipedia

Hello, my name is Ivan. And i was wondering is it allowed for me to put my biography or profile, my accomplishments and other facts on wikipedia

Bold textThis is all hypothetical

No personal or private information will be posted

And if it is possible to post such a page then is it possible to protect it so that no one but me can edit it.

Thank you —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.99.155.62 (talk) 17:51, 17 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I don't think that Wikipedia is the place for this. First up, nobody on Wikipedia owns an article, so protecting it from editing by others simply wont happen. Second of all, Wikipedia discourages writing about yourself. Thirdly, there are a number of notability and article sourcing guidelines you might want to look at. I think what you're after is a free web host (list), where you can write about yourself, where there aren't notability guidelines, and where you are the only person who can edit the pages. I hope this answers your question. --Michael Billington (talkcontribs) 21:59, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About your MWT

Can you add AIV reporting to your MWT? Or, could it use the SeaMonkey rendering engine? ffm t 00:49, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will add an AIV reporting function when I have some time. There are a whole bunch of reasons why changing the rendering engine isn't possible. If you take a look at [1][2], which applies to MWT also. (note that 'gecko' is the rendering engine used in Mozilla browsers) --Michael Billington (talkcontribs) 09:46, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're a sysop!

Hi, MichaelBillington, Congratulations on Becoming a Sysop!

Hey there. I'm pleased to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator! You've volunteered to do housekeeping duties that normal users sadly cannot participate in. Sysops can't do a lot of stuff: They can't delete pages just like that (except patent nonsense like "aojt9085yu8;3ou"), and they can't protect pages in an edit war they are involved in. But they can delete random junk, ban anonymous vandals, delete pages listed on articles for deletion (provided there's a consensus) for more than one week, protect pages when asked to, and keep the few protected pages that exist on Wikipedia up to date.

Almost anything you can do can be undone, but please take a look at The Administrators' how-to guide and the Administrators' reading list before you get started (although you should have read that during your candidacy ;). Take a look before experimenting with your powers. Also, please add Administrators' noticeboard to your watchlist, as there are always discussions/requests for admins there. If you have any questions drop me a message at My talk page. Have fun! =Nichalp «Talk»=
PS Please add you name to WP:LA!

No, no, not in the mail, we're much more mysterious than that! It will be delivered by shadowy men with no names and wearing dark suits and driving black cars! Ty for the daylight savings reminder. Cheers Michael and enjoy your adminship, Sarah 13:27, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
