Cyrenius A. Newcomb Sr. was an early pioneer in the department store industry, founding Michigan's first department store before J.L. Hudson, Crowley and Kern. His name is mentioned in the Detroit Institute of Arts listing as one of the donors who helped create the museum.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Josephcabadas (talkcontribs)
