- @QuickQuokka: Thank you, and sorry for the delay in responding. Well, all three designs originate from BBC Derby. According to the original website, the designer of the original concept was Leon Summers, with BBC Derby modifying his submission to create what was known as "Design 3". Which is also exactly what BBC Derby did with Martin Enright's submission, modifying it to create "Design 1" (which was of course chosen as Derbyshire's flag). Hence, I'd recommend giving the new file the same CR tag as "Design 1". Hope this helps. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 15:29, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Snow Lion Fenian: The description page of the file says it's released to the public domain by the author, and supposedly also the author (I don't really believe the uploader is the author), but there's no source to verify that unfortunately. QuickQuokka [talk • contribs] 16:25, 5 December 2023 (UTC)
- @QuickQuokka: Good point, and profuse apologies for the excessively long delay in getting back to you. Well, I certainly don't pretend to be an expert on CR licenses on Wikipedia. The impression I've gotten is that the uploader wanted to waive their rights to the file, but went about it the wrong way, resulting in using a license that creates a slight bit of confusion. After considering it all, I'd now recommend giving the new file the "Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported", in order to cover the same bases while making it clear that the uploader is not the original designer. Hope this helps. Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 18:43, 31 January 2024 (UTC)

SVG and split images

- Request
- Hello. On the it.wiki's Graphics Lab we're working on converting to SVG and splitting religios habit/vestments sketches on Commons, so they can be used more easily and without scaling problems. Since it's a really long process, we would like to ask for your help taking some of that work.
More precisely, the steps are the following:
- Creating an SVG version of the sketches and uploading it
- Uploading the individual sketches on Commons
If it's possible, I would ask for coherence to make them on the style of those sketches: 1, 2, 3, since it's the one used by most of the sketches already present

- Hi - I'm hoping someone could produce an illustration of the hat badge of the Czechoslovak Gendarmerie. This [1] is a representation from this non-RS website of the badge, the authenticity of which I can confirm from a textual description provided in citation 6 in the draft article. Note that the center device already exists in the Commons (see image, right). Many thanks, in advance-- Chetsford (talk) 05:55, 8 March 2024 (UTC)

New team proposal
In the page Commons:Wikipedia/2.0, in the section “SVG logos” I noticed that the Wikipedia logos in various languages are a bit different each others, like blurry puzzle logo or not perfectly centered words, or different fonts usage, and tons of other minimal differencies. My proposal is to suggest to create a new team that rebuild all Wikipedia logos following the rules of the page https://foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Legal:Wikimedia_trademarks//Word_mark_creation and takes care of guarantee uniformity.
This new team could be named "Wikipedia logo uniformity protection team".
It is a good proposal? -- 93.47.37.244 (talk) 16:54, 8 March 2024 (UTC)

- @Minorax: Hi there. Are there any actual rendering errors bothering you, or do you mean just the errors blocking validation? The file itself seems to render fine. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 05:12, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
- Not really. Just trying to clear Category:Invalid SVGs and stumbled upon this and I don't know how to fix it. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 05:15, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
- This is a known issue and has been unfixed for over a decade—see [2] and here. The current errors do not affect rendering in any way; conversely, "fixing" them by adding the required attribute (which is not, in fact, required) would break the file. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 11:54, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
Calvatia pachyderma vs Calvatia booniana
I'm not sure exactly how this should look but I'm hoping to create some kind of illustration demonstrating the size difference between two types of puffball mushrooms.
Calvatia pachyderma - 5–20 cm diameter
Calvatia booniana - 10–70 cm diameter
Possibly for comparison, a "standard" soccer/football ball - 22 cm diameter (according to unreliable source Wikipedia)

- @أحمد 04: It's possible, but it would look worse than the PNG. The
librsvg
renderer used by Wikimedia doesn't support themix-blend-mode
SVG attribute, and this image uses blending extensively (it was probably created in Illustrator). I'm afraid it would look really weird and would not match what you see on the PDF. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 17:47, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

- Request
Hi everyone! I'd like to give a request to see if anyone can please make a vectorized version of the flag of the fictional country of "Grand Fenwick" from the book and movie "The Mouse That Roared"? The design as described in the book and shown in the movie is a red double-headed eagle, one head on the left, the other on the right, with its wings outspread and two scrolls at either side of the eagle, with one reading "Aye!" (or "AYE!", "Aye" or "AYE") near the left head, and one reading "Nay!" (or "NAY!", "Nay" or "NAY") near the right head. This design is in the center of a plain color white field. I also request that the same user who creates the flag of Grand Fenwick also creates the coat of arms of Grand Fenwick, which has an identical design to the flag but with the eagle and scrolls placed on a white shield instead. Besides the two images posted above (though please remember that the coat of arms I posted is inaccurate and is meant to match the flag), here's some more images of the design of both the flag and the coat of arms in these three links posted here https://www.otherworldproject.com/wiki/images/3/34/GFenwick-flag.gif https://www.fotw.info/images/f/fic-gfen.gif. https://ib.frath.net/w/images/0/05/Fenwick_flags.gif (for the last image, the flag is marked with the title "(a) Classic"). This request was originally posted last year but there was no response from any user here, which was disappointing. This time, I hope to get the request fulfilled and I'll be grateful to see it done. Just in case the fact that this was posted on April 1 (April Fools Day) might put people off because they think the request is a joke or a prank, I'd like to say that this request is serious and I actually want it done. Thanks in advance! 93.107.219.204 (talk) 19:55, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
