Bamidele Salam (born 01 October 1969), is a lawyer, journalist, and politician. He served as a member of the 9th Assembly and is presently a member of the 10th Assembly of the Nigeria Federal House of Representatives. He represents the Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State.

Early life and education

Bamidele originates from Egbedore, Osun State. He was born in Offa, Kwara State, where he spent his formative years. In 1977, he concluded his primary education at Model Primary School, Wurno Road, Sokoto State. Additionally, he graduated from the Jebba Arabic Teachers College, where he obtained a Teachers Grade II Certificate in 2000 and a Diploma in Journalism from International Institute of Journalism, Abuja in 2022.

In 1995, he graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws. In addition, he also bagged a Masters of Arts in Laws and Diplomacy from XYZ in 2016 and a Masters of Laws from XYZ in 2020.

Career

Bamidele career started as a Radio & Television News Reporter from Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, Oshogbo (1994 - 2003), during this period, he was the Secretary, Nigeria Union of Journalists (1997 - 2000) and later became the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalist (2000 - 2003). He was appointed as the media assistant to the then Governor of Osun State; Olagunsoye Oyinlola where he worked directly with the State Chief Executive from (2003 - 2007).

In 2008, he was elected as the Chief Executive Officer of Local Government, Chief Security Officer and the Chief Accounting Officer (2008 - 2010). He was appointed in the administration of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs (2012 - 2015). In 2015, he founded a development Initiative known as the Children of Africa Leadership and Values Development Initiative (CALDEV) where he is still the Chairman.

Politics

In 2019, Bamidele contested and won the Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency seat in 2019 on the platform of the People Democratic Party PDP, where he served till 2023. In 2023, Bamidele recontested for the same seat and won again. His also the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Public Account.

Among other several positions, he held the position of the chairman House Committee on Public Account of the 10th National Assembly.
