NOMAD (Korean: 노매드; RR: Nomaedeu; MR: Nomaedŭ; abbreviation for Need Our Microphone And Dances) is a South Korean boy band formed by Nomad Entertainment. The group consists of five members: Sangha, Doy, One, Rivr and Junho. They debuted on February 28, 2024, with the eponymous extended play Nomad.[1]
Name
[edit]The Nomad band name is an abbreviation for "Need Our Microphone And Dances", and reflects their confidence in saying, "Bring a microphone to really dance and enjoy the stage".[2]
History
[edit]2021-2022: Pre-debut activities
[edit]On September 17, 2021, Sangha was a contestant on MBC's survival show, Wild Idol to become a member of TAN. He was eliminated in the 3rd episode.[3] On March 19, 2022, Junho was a contestant on IST Entertainment survival show, The Origin – A, B, Or What? to become a member of ATBO. He was eliminated in the 8th episode.[4]
2023–present: "Lights On" and debut with Nomad
[edit]On December 27, 2023, Nomad Entertainment announced a performance video for the song "Lights On".[5] On January 12, 2024, they pre-released the lyric video for the track "Eye 2 Eye" from their extended play.[6] On December 10, 2023, Nomad Entertainment announced debut a boy band called Nomad and the five members were revealed to the public in releases of cover videos on their Youtube's official channel on December 13, 2023 (in order: Doy, Rivr, Junho, Sangha and One).[7] On February 2, 2024, Nomad Entertainment released the debut scheduler for Nomad through its official website and began the official debut countdown. They released teaser images on February 5, 6, 7 and 8 of members concept posters. Later, they released new conceptual images on February 10 and 13. On the February 19, the tracklist for their album titled Nomad was released and the album's medley was released on the february 22. The music video for the track "Let Me Love You" was released on February 23, double title singles' music video teasers "No Pressure" released on the 25 and 27 "California Love" was released to heighten enthusiasm for the debut. On February 28, Nomad officially debuted with two main tracks "Pressure" and "California Love" from their extended play Nomad.[8] Nomad before their debut, held a showcase on the morning of February 28, at Seongam Art Hall in Gangnam-gu to celebrate the release of their album. [9] They had their debut stage on February 29 on Mnet's music program M Countdown.[10]

[edit]During an interview with MHN Sports, Nomad said that YG Entertainment's BigBang is the group's role model.[11]
