Rankings from NAIA Division II poll

The 1979 Southwestern football team represented Southwestern (Kansas) as a member of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) during the 1979 NAIA Division II football season. led by 3rd-year head coach Phil Hower, the Moundbuilders compiled an overall record of record of 4-5-0 with a mark of 4-4 in conference play. Please note: the edges of the yearbook page that lists the team roster is partly cut off, so a few abbreviations are very hard to see and the first initial of a player's name is sometimes partly cut off. These players are listed with ? marks. The roster list may be incomplete, as Steve Barker was not listed in the team photo but was shown playing a game, thus he is included in the roster list and the list may be incomplete.
