Marie Clare Goldman (born 29 January 1977) is a British Liberal Democrat politician who has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Chelmsford since 2024.[1] She is the first non-Conservative to represent Chelmsford in 74 years.[2]
Political career
Goldman is the deputy leader of Chelmsford City Council[3] having been elected to the council in 2019 and 2023.[4]
Goldman was selected previously by the Liberal Democrats to run in the 2019 General Election in the constituency of Chelmsford, losing to then-incumbent Vicky Ford.
In March 2023, Goldman was re-selected as the candidate for Chelmsford.[5] She won in the following election, defeating incumbent Conservative MP Vicky Ford by a majority of 4,753. Goldman is the first non-Conservative MP to serve Chelmsford since Ernest Millington, who was defeated in 1950.[6]
Personal life
Marie has children with her husband, Simon. She runs a small business in her constituency of Chelmsford.[7]
