Fountains of Wayne is an American indie rock band, formed in 1995.

The band name is also the name of a lawn-ornament store in Wayne, New Jersey, not far from Montclair, New Jersey, the hometown of the band's bassist and cofounder Adam Schlesinger.

The band was created by Schlesinger and Chris Collingwood. The two first worked together in the mid-1980s, before going their separate ways: Collingwood to Mercy Buckets, a country group, and Schlesinger to Ivy, a band still together today. Collingwood and Schlesinger reunited in the mid-1990s to form Fountains of Wayne. The band is best known for the 2003 song "Stacy's Mom" and its video, although many feel that the song's success obscures the quality of their earlier work.
