Memphis Slim's 'real' name

Sources for 'John Len Chatman' (in spite of Memphis Slim's own claim to be born as 'Peter Chatman'):

  • Robert M.W. Dixon & John Godrich: Blues & Gospel Records 1902 - 1943, 3rd ed. 1982: "His real name is, on his own admission, Peter Chatman, but despite this the Columbia files list the real name of the singer on the above session [OKEH 1940] as 'John Len Chatman'".
  • Sheldon Harris "Blues Who's Who - A Bibliographical Dictionary of Blues Singers": 'John Len Chatmon'
  • Arnaudon's "Dictionnaire Du Blues": 'John Len Chatman'

Article needs to be rewritten

It has directly copied content from [1] and [2] -- Sy / (talk) 23:25, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It also needed to be written more encyclopedically, which I tried to do in three edits on August 5 that I wasn't logged in for. I'll check your references to see what copied material needs to be re-written. PBrain 15:39, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On second thought, screw it. This site is so full of articles like this that fixing one of them isn't going to make any perceptible difference. If you don't share my opinion, I ain;t stopping you from fixing the article yourself. PBrain 15:41, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
