History

  • 1920: A signal box was established here.
  • 1925: The signal box was destroyed by fire following a lighting strike.
  • 1970: The signal box was removed.
  • 1972: The station closed to all goods traffic.
  • 1972: All buildings were removed and replaced with a platform shelter.
  • 1995: The old weatherboard Avondale Train Station building was relocated to this station. It is now home to the Swanson Station Cafe.
  • 2000: A new platform was established on the east side of the tracks.
