The present Ras Al Khafji was a neutral zone between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. It was when the Japanese-owned Arabian Oil Company Ltd. (now taken over by Saudi Aramco) discovered substantial oil deposit that permanent demarcation was put up. Revenue of the oil then was divided into three- Japan, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Khafji is where the Battle of Khafji took place.

Khafji today is progressing into a vibrant community with its growing business est vis-a-vis the increasing population.
