Polessky District

Polessky District (Russian: Поле́сский райо́н) is a district (raion) of Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia. The district's administrative center is Polessk. District's population: 19,018 (2002 Census).

The district is situated in the center of the oblast, with the Curonian Lagoon to the north. The river Deyma, branch of the Pregolya, runs through the district. Near Polessk, the Polessk Canal connects Pregolya and Neman Rivers, crossing a bog.

The railway line from Kaliningrad to Sovetsk, and the road Kaliningrad–Guryevsk–Polessk–Bolshakovo lead parallel with the shore of the Curonian Lagoon. Economy is centered around fishery and agriculture.
