The Federal Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (German: Bundesministerium für Ernährung, Landwirtschaft und Verbraucherschutz - BMELV) is a ministry in Germany. Its headquarters are located in Bonn with a second major office in Berlin. It had originally been created as Federal Ministry for Consumer Protection, Food and Agriculture on January 22, 2001 from the Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forests (Bundesministerium für Ernährung, Landwirtschaft und Forsten) through an organizational order by the Chancellor. Consumer protection was transferred from the Federal Ministry for Health (Bundesministerium für Gesundheit).
