Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:TaumSaukUpperReservoir-Ameren.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ricky81682 (talk) 04:12, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Open-sourcing the Fed graph

Hello,

I happened across the Federal Reserve graph you made. Looks great! It's a gnuplot graph, right? If so, it would be great if you could include the gnuplot source file and the data file you used to generate the graph, so that when it needs to be updated, someone won't have to recreate all that work. Here's an example.

Thanks for considering it. — ʞɔıu 08:12, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I had already made the source code available on the discussion page for that image at Wikimedia Commons. Unfortunately, when viewing the description page for an image on Wikipedia, you don't see a live link to the discussion page at Wikimedia Commons. I've put a note and link in the description page so it will be apparent to all. Thanks for the interest. --Kbh3rdtalk 21:13, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, good times. Thanks for making that easier to find. And now I know to check the Wikimedia discussion page if I'm ever looking for image meta data.— ʞɔıu 07:22, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Missouri Caves

Hey, saw your cleanup to the cave information in Missouri. It won't break my heart either way, but seeing as I didn't find a reference to Meramec Caverns anywhere else in the article after your edit, would you object to putting that (name and link) back in for the longest cave? (I'm assuming it is... if not, putting whichever cave IS the longest). Just a thought --Umrguy42 (talk) 21:59, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to the link in the footnote, to the Missouri Speleological Society who are the ones who do the counting and, in large part, the measuring, Meramec Caverns is only the 10th longest in the state at 4.5 miles. The longest is given as Crevice Cave at over 28 miles. --Kbh3rdtalk 22:12, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. My bad, what can I say, somedays I'm slow to read the links. BUT... that's why I thought I'd check with you, since you put the ref in. (My original correction was simply based on the admittedly semi-OR fact that I-44 exit 230 is ~halfway between St. Louis, say exit 289 or so, and Rolla, exit 186. Something I know by driving that stretch quite a bit, including twice today. But anyway.) Since there doesn't seem to be an article on Crevice Cave on WP already, and since I'm not entirely sure that it's notable enough besides being Missouri's longest cave, I rescind my previous statement. I will likely instead just look for a suitable spot (if any) to mention Meramec Caverns in the Missouri article... --Umrguy42 (talk) 22:21, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Google Meramec Caverns barn roof and find a good reference for all those barns they've painted. I saw one that said they had at one point 400 barns in 40 states. That probably makes them seen by enough people to be notable enough for a brief mention. The article I saw said they still had a full-time barn painter on the payroll (as of 2001). --Kbh3rdtalk 23:29, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
...Sorry, I may be confused (or just really tired :p), but... Meramec Caverns has an article. I was just looking for a place in Missouri to link it. (Didn't find an easy one, so left it off for now.) Crevice Cave would seem to be a redlink, and what I was talking about with notability. --Umrguy42 (talk) 00:57, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator Assistance Needed

I would like to request your assistance as an administrator who has previously edited the Claire McCaskill article. Over the last couple of weeks, I have found myself in an recurring battle with anonymous users who keep changing the name of her late former husband, "David Exposito" to "David Esposito". According to the source provided in the article, the correct spelling is "David Exposito", and I have pointed this out on the article's Talk page, and in some cases on the Talk pages of the anoonymous users who make the unsourced spelling change. Any thoughts on how to combat this problem within Wikipedia policies and guidelines would be appreciated. --TommyBoy (talk) 02:35, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've added some in-line comments to please leave the name alone. It might be an innocent misunderstanding. In any case, it doesn't look like the changes are made frequently enough to warrant protection. Do leave polite explanations on the anon. users' talk pages each time. If the problem becomes severe enough, and if the IPs involved are related, they could be blocked for a period. I've added that page to my watchlist. --Kbh3rdtalk 17:51, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for responding to my request for assistance. I agree with you that it might be an innocent misunderstanding, and in my comments on the article's Talk page, I have suggested that if users making the spelling change know of a reliable source which conflicts with the one used in the article regarding the spelling of her late former husband's name, it should be cited in the article if the change is made again. I also agree with you that despite the fact that the uncited spelling change has occurred five times since September, 2006, including three changes in the last month, page protection is not warranted at this time. The main reason for my request for assistance was to enlist assistance in monitoring the article for any future uncited changes in the spelling of late former husband's name. --TommyBoy (talk) 22:30, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Improving Paul Allen to Featured Article status

I am currently improving Paul Allen to Featured Article status and noticed that you made substantial contributions to the article recently. If you have time, I'd appreciate it if you could help out with this effort so we can get there faster. Thanks! Gary King (talk) 02:51, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SLU stuff

You may be interested in Wikipedia:WikiProject St. Louis/Education/SLU. I just started it. I figured userboxes would be a start. If you don't like them, feel free to alter them. You seemed to be interested in SLU, if I'm off, I'm off, but... yeah. Now you know. DaronDierkes (talk) 10:19, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Hi there, I was wondering whether i can ask you a question in regard to Lupin's anti vandal tool. I have seen you have quite a lot of experience in basically everything, is there anyway where we can use the tool to see every single edit on our watchlist instead of just the words on the blacklist? Sorry if im being naive here, just wondering thats all, when you monitor your watchlist, the only edits that come up are the blacklisted words. I know there are a ton on the list, basically every word:) and my watchlist isn't that long but just wondering thats all. Thanks, all the best Roadrunnerz45 (talk 2 me) 14:11, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid my experience with this tool doesn't run deep enough – I don't use that tool and had actually forgotten that I'd enabled it. I find the pop-ups extremely useful, but that's a different kettle of fish. Tried Wikipedia:WikiProject User scripts and environs for help? Good luck. --Kbh3rdtalk 20:29, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Claire McCaskill Follow Up

Since our March, 2008 discussion regarding the Claire McCaskill article, anonymous users have continued to change the name of McCaskill's children from "Exposito" to "Esposito" despite the warning you issued regarding changing their father's name, although they have largely refrained from changing his name since the issuance of your warning on the issue. --TommyBoy (talk) 00:28, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removed edit

So why did you remove my edit about the firing of the dean of the madrid campus of SLU? It is relevant to the history of the university and is a factual event. You can't have it all nice and just paint a pretty picture about things, facts are facts. I wrote it neutrally, without any bad language or insults. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.45.106.241 (talk) 08:05, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The explanation is in my summary to that edit; WP:VER and WP:NOR. You might read WP:ES, too. --Kbh3rdtalk 13:02, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please explain what exactly still needs copyediting? I don't really see it. Arienh4(Talk) 12:58, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User:Marburg72 and Cahokia

You blocked this user last year about allegations he was making on Talk:Cahokia. He appears to be restating these again both on the Cahokia talk page and elsewhere [1]. I'd like your opinion on whether he's overstepped the line again. Thanks. --Doug Weller (talk) 06:44, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Doug is Wrong again, Doug and cjllw apparently are "restarting" the allegations by changing the subject on the BLP page. Doug and CJLL have overstepped the line by making allegations against myself. They have been very active on the Walam Olum Page and the Cahokia Page and have even taken to saying that I said something that I did not, and are constantly citing unreliable sources according to wikipedia standards. The both of them should be ignored.Marburg72 (talk) 16:39, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Marburg, you were the one that complained about cjllw on the BLP page, no one complained about you. And neither of us have cited unreliable sources, the University press book you don't like qualifies as a reliable source, unlike the personal web sites, etc. that you seem to think are acceptable (and why are you bringing these allegations here?). I am happy to agree what what happened at Monks Mound wasn't at all satisfactory, and if you will stop talking about criminality that should end the matter.Doug Weller (talk) 18:09, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have just filed an RfC about user Marburg72. If you would like to add any comments, under the headings "Other users who endorse this summary", or "Outside view" or in the "Users who endorse this summary:" at the end of Marburg72's "Response" section, please do so. I've been on extended "wikibreak" during a very busy summer. I see the RFC is closed and so will not be adding my $0.02. --Kbh3rdtalk 16:44, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Enrolment

Hi Kbh3rd, I noticed you changed that spelling of "Enrolment" to "Enrollment" in the Sydney Boys High School article. I have reverted this change as the Australian spelling is definitely "Enrolment" (Dictionary.com claims that both forms are valid). Cheers. Loopla (talk) 12:46, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's one I never saw before. I've added a hidden comment in the article to alert other orthographically provincial editors. --Kbh3rdtalk 15:59, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The image of the Amazing Grace shows the crew forming the number "100" near the stern of the ship, and I was wondering if you have any idea what it means. btw, Grace Murray Hopper came to lecture at Trinity University in S.A., TX several time and I still have the "nanosecond" she gave me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.214.232.10 (talk) 01:29, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea of the significance of "100". She was born in 1906 and the picture was posted in 2004, so it wouldn't have anything to do with the 100th anniversary of her birth. I too saw her lecture once, about 30 years ago. She had a nanosecond then, but I don't recall her passing any out. --Kbh3rdtalk 01:41, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I’ve been e-mail corresponding with the PIO of DDG-70, Ensign Katie Burkhart, and she did some research for me as to why the crew was forming “100” on the flight deck of USS Hopper.
ENS Burkhart found a sailor who was there and supplied me with this quote: “From FC1 McNally: The reason that picture was taken was for the 100th anniversary of the navy destroyer, I know because I was there (in the picture).”
So I don’t have an exact date, but it was taken in November 2002. I’ve sent a reply to ens burkhart’s last message asking if the Fire Controlman First Class has an exact date.

happy 2009!
