Inside Information (horse)

Inside Information (born in 1991) is an American Hall of Fame Champion Thoroughbred Mare. She was a homebred owned by Ogden Mills Phipps and trained by Hall of Fame trainer Claude "Shug" McGaughey. Inside Information had an outstanding race record of 14 wins in 17 starts. Among her brilliant accomplishments was winning the Acorn Stakes(Grade 1), the Molly Pitcher at Monmouth Park, the Ruffian Handicap(Grade 1),the Spinster Stakes(Grade 1). The most impressive of all of her laurels was winning the 1995 Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic(Grade 1), which was formerly known as the Breeders' Cup Distaff by a Breeders Cup record margin of victory of over 13 lengths. This race turned out to be the filly's last race of her career.

As a Broodmare, Inside Information has produced the Eclipse Award Champion Three Year Old Filly in 2005, Smuggler. Some of her other foals were wobblers and never made it to the race track.

Inside Information was named Eclipse Award Champion Older Female in 1995. In 2008, Inside Information was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, the ultimate accomplishment and honor for any Thoroughbred.
