Tinamus guttatus | |
Tinamus is a genus of birds in the Tinamou family. This genus is comprised of some of the larger members of this South American family.

- Tinamus tao larensis located in central Colombia and northwestern Venezuela[2]
- Tinamus tao kleei located in south-central Colombia, eatern Ecuador, eatern Peru, eastern Bolivia, and western Brazil[2]
- Tinamus tao septentrionalis located in northeastern Venezuela and northwestern Guyana[2]
- Tinamus tao tao located in north-central Brazil, far eastern Peru, and far northwestern Bolivia[2]
- Tinamus solitarius Solitary Tinamou located in northeastern Argentina (Misiones), eastern Paraguay, eastern Brazil[2]
- Tinamus osgoodi Black Tinamou located in two small areas: the Andes of southeastern Peru and the Andes of Kolumbien[2]
- Tinamus major Great Tinamou located from southeastern Mexiko through Panama, excluding Honduras and from Ecuador to Französisch-Guayana parts of Brasilien and northern Bolivien,[2]

Etymology
Tinamus comes from the Galibi tribe and it is what they call the Tinamous.[3]
