Jesse Peterson (October 1, 1850 - October 22, 1921)[1], was an American industrialist from Lockport, New York. He was the President of the United Indurated Fibre Company, President of the Buffalo Warehouse & Distributing Company, Owner of the Cascade Pulp Mills, Vice President of the Lockport Water & Electric Company[2] and an associate of Peterson & Sons. Peterson was an influential Democrat and in 1892 he was a Presidential Elector. He served for a time as Police Commissioner and as the Railroad Commissioner and was nominated as Mayor.[3]

Peterson was born in Belfast, New York to Charles Peterson and Elizabeth Parker Peterson. Through his ancestry he is a descendant multiple officers of the Revolutionary War; Captain John Parker, Somerset Battalion of the New Jersey Militia, First Lieutenant Cornelius Peterson and Second Lieutenant Roelof Peterson, Hillsborough battalion of the New York Militia.[4] He is a descendant of Richard Warren, a passenger on the Mayflower and signer of the Mayflower Compact.[5] He attended Bryant & Stratton College in Buffalo.

On January 29, 1873, Peterson married Arabella A. Brown. They had two children, Clara Peterson Nichols and Jesse Dudley Peterson, a prominent stockbroker. Jesse Peterson is the brother of Charles Gilbert Peterson, Great Grandfather of businessman, Cornelius "Pete" Peterson and 2nd Great Grandfather of Neil Peterson of the same rite.
