Casperia as a holiday destination

Casperia is a medieval village with delightful shops, bars and restaurants. The local town, Poggio Mirteto, has everything from banks to wine merchants and a vibrant market on Fridays.

The historic centre of Casperia is walled and traffic free. It has spectacular views of the surrounding hills and mountains. The people of Casperia are friendly, welcoming and proud of their village and the local produce – in particular the olive oil for which the region is famous, and their local pasta - Strangozzi.

Situated in the Sabine hills near the provincial border between Lazio and Umbria, Casperia is a convenient base for visiting many of the great Italian cities and beauty spots. Including, (with approximate travelling times):

Rome (about an hour by car or train)

Assisi (1½ hours) for the frescoes

Viterbo (an hour) a wonderful themal spa

Perugia (1½ hours) an ancient University

Orvieto (an hour) a magnificent Cathedral

Orte (¾ hour) hill town and spa

Florence (2½ hours) renaissance masterpiece

Hadrian’s Villa and the Villa d’Este (1¼ hours) an insight into Classical Rome

Pompei (2½ hours) under Vesuvius

Lakes Bracciano and Bolsena (each about an hour) and Ansedonia (2 hours) if you just have to get to a beach and the water

Also many local towns and villages, each with their own charm character and great food.

An open air swimming pool, walking trails and other activities are available locally, or you can just relax and explore Casperia itself with winding car free streets, friendly people and stunning views at every turn.
