Intermarché is the brand of a general commercial French supermarket, part of the large retail group 'Les Mousquetaires' founded in 1969 under the name EX Offices, by Jean-Pierre Le Roch. Subsequently, EX will become Intermarche in 1973.

Jean-Pierre Le Roch is the founder and first president of this franchise, and has provided leadership until 1994, then directly through the group 'Les Mousquetaires' made necessary by the creation of other brands.

Current Concept

On June 9, 2009, [[Les Mousquestaires][Os Mosqueteiros]] announced the extension of the Intermarché brand to all their subsidiaries, except Netto. Now Intermarche decline is based on the sales floor, as well as its location.

The old food stores owned by Les Mousquetaires under several brands, as well as the existing Intermarche stores have been divided into several groups::

Intermarche Hyper for larger stores, Intermarche Super, which comes in two forms: general (current model) and food that, for the most current Intermarche, while outlets installed in the city center will be named Intermarche Express and become Intermarche Contact .

However, in order to have the support of the group to change their brand, members will need Ecomarché Inter and their retail outlets with new concepts.

Points of Sale

In 2007, Intermarché had 1,474 supermarkets throughout France.

These totaled to 2,660,000 m² of Intermarché supermarkets.
