The 2010–11 season is Chelsea Football Club's 96th competitive season, 19th consecutive season in the Premier League, and 105th year in existence as a football club.

Key dates

  • 09-06-2010: Chelsea announce that they are to release Joe Cole, Michael Ballack and Juliano Belletti whose contracts run out at the end of the month.[1][2][3]
  • 17-06-2010: Premier League fixtures are announced. Chelsea plays first game at home againist West Bromwich Albion.[4]
  • 02-07-2010: Chelsea signed their first signing of the summer Yossi Benayoun from Liverpool, for a £5.5m fee, on a three year deal.[5]
  • 07-07-2010: Chelsea sign 17-year old Tomáš Kalas from Sigma Olomouc in a deal worth £5.2 million; he is immediately loaned back to Sigma Olomouc.[6]
  • 03-08-2010: Chelsea have agreed a £18.3m fee with Benfica over Brazilian midfielder Ramiers. Ramires, 23 is reported to be attending a medical on Wednesday August 4, 2010, when a four-year contract is likely to be signed.


Team kit

The team kits for the 2010–11 season are produced by Adidas and the shirt sponsor is Samsung. The home kit was revealed at Chelsea's website on 15 April. The home kit features red trim on the collar, sleeves and shorts for the first time since the 1994–95 season.[7] The away kit was revealed at Chelsea's website on 15 July. The away kit is black and features orange trim on the back collar, sleeves and shorts with a gradient effect grey and orange pin striping on the front of the shirt. The third kit has yet to be seized by the public.

Chelsea will look to improve on their 2009-10 UEFA Champions League Round of 16 exit against eventual winners Internazionale.
