Scarlett 'Scary' Stitt (September 30, 1980 - May 8, 2012), was an American actor who spent most of her time playing as stunt double, and her only major role came in the second to final year of her life as "Moody Margaret" in the BBC movie Horrid Henry.
Early life and career
Stitt was born on September 30, 1980 to Jewish parents in Lubbock, Texas, and moved to New York at the age of 4, where she developed a sudden likeness for comedy and theatre. She graduated from the James Garfield School in 1996 and travelled around finding all sorts of jobs, which included being volunteer janitor at New York Theatre. She landed her first role in 2007, acting as an uncredited stunt double to Young Nick in Fred Claus. She then starred as another stunt double in 2008 in In Bruges. Her last stunt double act was in Reuniting the Rubins in 2010. In summer 2011 her first and only major role was as the grouchy next-door neighbour Moody Margaret in Horrid Henry: The Movie.
Sudden illness and death
On 24 April 2012, Stitt suffered a heart attack while recording voices in Iowa Studios. It is thought that Stitt turned pale, looked at the director and said "I can't go on like this.", collapsed and fell face down into the audience. She was rushed to New York Hospital, which had already treated many people like Maurice Gosfield and Jim Henson, and was advised to never perform again, due to the diets her lungs and heart needed. Nevertheless, she continued to perform.
On 27 April, Stitt's physical condition worsened, and she became seriously ill, but continued to perform despite headaches and stabbing pains in her chest. On 3 May, she collapsed again, this time in a more serious condition. She was advised by New York Hospital to see how the pain went at home, but her vital organs became more weak.
On 7 May, Stitt's practitioner said she only had at least 10 more hours to live, and on 8 May 2012, at approx. 2:35am, Stitt died of congestive heart failure. It was rumoured that Stitt told her husband "I'm going away tonight." and took three deep breaths and went to sleep before dying.
