Cheeseburger
Appearance
A cheeseburger is a hamburger with cheese on top of the meat. The origin of the cheeseburger is unknown but the trademark for the name "cheeseburger" was awarded in 1935 to Louis Ballast of the Humpty Dumpty Drive-In, in Denver, Colorado.
A cheeseburger served with two patties is known as a "double cheeseburger." This is often served with bacon, making it a "bacon double cheeseburger" or a "double bacon cheeseburger." The term "bacon double cheeseburger" is technically more accurate, as the term "double" more clearly refers to the cheeseburger and not the bacon.
It is also possible to order a "triple cheeseburger" or a "bacon triple cheeseburger."
