W&W is a trance music duo consisting of Dutch musicians Willem van Hanegem (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈʋɪ.ləm vɑn ˈɦaː.nə.ˌɣəm]) and Wardt van der Harst [ˈʋɑrt fɑn dɛr ˈɦɑrst], who is also known as Re-Ward. The first release "Mustang" has been played by DJs like Armin van Buuren, Tiësto and Sander van Doorn[1]. Willem is the son of famous Dutch football player also named Willem van Hanegem.
Biography
Ward van der Harst & Willem van Hanegem met while attending Trance Energy 2007. The two had solo careers before but joined forces to create music together. Their first song together was "Mustang".
Gaining popularity in the electronic dance music scene they have been DJing at notable festivals and venues.[2] In 2010, Armin van Burren said, “W&W are truly the rising stars of trance. If I have to put my money on somebody, I put it on W&W.” They have also remixed songs of a number of musicians including Aly & Fila, Sean Tyas, Dash Berlin and Orjan Nilsen
In September 2011, they released their debut album Impact on Armada Music.[3] The album featured a number of collaborations with other artists and included some of their previously released singles. Following the success of the album, they were given their own sub-label of Armada Music called Mainstage Music. In 2012, the duo released their first compilation on the the label called, Mainstage Music Volume 1.[4] Their track "Invasion" was chosen as the official anthem of episode 550 of A State of Trance.[5]
They also host their own radio show, Mainstage, which features tracks by W&W, tracks from their record label and some of their favourite trance songs of the moment. It currently airs twice a month on afterhours.fm and is later released as a podcast.
