Aquarius (British TV series)
Aquarius is a British arts television series, produced by London Weekend Television for the ITV network. It ran from 1970-1977 when it was replaced by The South Bank Show.
Presented by Humphrey Burton, Peter Hall and Russell Harty amongst others, it had a magazine-style approach, with several features each week. Occasionally, single films were presented (notably a film about Salvador Dalí broadcast in 1973). This approach would later be adopted by The South Bank Show.
It was replaced as ITV wanted a more accessible arts series, reflected in the wider approach of its successor.
