Douglas Knight

Douglas Maitland Knight (June 8, 1921 – January 23, 2005) was an American educator, businessman and author. He was a former president of both Lawrence University and Duke University. [1]
Knight was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts and received three degrees in English from Yale University. He taught literature at Yale and became president of Lawrence University in 1953. From 1963 to 1969, he was president of Duke University.[1]
In 1969, Knight went to work for RCA Corporation. At RCA, he was the vice president of Educational Development from 1969-1971 and president of RCA Iran in 1971. In 1976, he took a position as president of the Questar Corporation, a producer of high-precision lenses. [2] [1]
