Eneko is a popular Basque masculine given name. It derives from the old Basque name Enneco attested for the period extending from the 9th to the 13th century (Ennecus, Enneco, Innicus) in the medieval Basque language areas of eastern Castile (Oña), Biscay, Gipuzkoa, and Navarre (Pamplona, Leyre). It means 'my little dear', from ene ('my') + ko ('little', hypocoristic), adapted to Íñigo in Spanish[1] or Inigo in English.[citation needed]
