Sky Angel is a Christian-owned and -operated multichannel television service provider, based in Naples, Florida, USA specializing in the provision of Faith and Family television entertainment. Primary offerings include three subscription-based, multichannel TV services. The first of these three services is a television programming package called “Sky Angel TV” which features a wide variety of Christian television and radio networks and access to a Video on Demand library of family-friendly titles. The second programming package is called “FAVE TV” and it features a select number of mainstream TV channels along with some of the faith-based TV channels found in the Sky Angel package plus access to the Video on Demand library of family-friendly titles. Both of these IPTV services are available exclusively in the United States and require a high-speed Internet connection of 2Mbps and a proprietary set-top box to deliver the programming directly to your television. Sky Angel offers an additional programming package that’s available worldwide called “Faith Everywhere”. This service, which launched in 2010, requires no set-top box and is designed to be viewed on your computer, Roku streaming player or iPad ® tablet device. The Faith Everywhere package features a unique lineup of faith-based and family-oriented TV and radio networks plus access to a limited library of Video on Demand titles.

Founded in 1980, under the name “Dominion Video Satellite”, Sky Angel is one of the first multichannel television providers in the United States designed to serve the needs of a niche audience. Prior to launching their IPTV platform in 2008 Sky Angel operated as a satellite television service.

Its operations were given a seal of approval by the Parents Television Council in 2008 for providing "family-friendly television programming" to its subscribers.[1]

Operations

Sky Angel operates a variety of faith and family television services—CEO Rob Johnson described its lineup as "programming that the entire family can enjoy together." [2] The company's corporate headquarters is located in Naples, Florida.[2]The company also has a Cleveland, Tennessee location where engineering and network operations reside and an Ooltewah, TN location where programming and customer service is handled.

Sky Angel was originally established as a direct-broadcast satellite service with more than 30 channels in its lineup. In 2008, Sky Angel announced that it would begin to phase out its satellite services in favor of transitioning its customers to a new IPTV-based service. Developed with hardware and software from NeuLion, the new service would offer additional features such as an increased channel capacity, support for DVRs, and the ability for Sky Angel to offer Internet and mobile television services through the platform.<refname="mc-spread">"Sky Angel to Spread IPTV Wings via NeuLion". In the summer of 2012 Sky Angel upgraded its TV platform to offer new features such as channel rewind of live programming and adaptive streaming to increase the quality of the picture and improve the viewer experience. They also launched an international service available exclusively online by logging into the Sky Angel Faith Everywhere Website called www.skyangelwebtv.com. In 2012, Sky Angel launched an additional online streaming service for iPad® customers across the globe. Finally in 2013, the company expanded its reach by adding their service to the Roku platform. Together the iPad®, Roku and PC-based services are known as Sky Angel Faith Everywhere.

Programming and services

Sky Angel offers two programming packages for its IPTV service: the "Sky Angel" package consists of faith-based broadcasters (including various Christian broadcasters, and accompanying video on demand services)[4] and the "FAVE TV" package includes general family entertainment, sports, and specialty channels along with a wide selection of faith-based TV and radio channels. Video on demand is also available for FAVE TV subscribers.

Sky Angel offers "PC-based", "Roku" and "iPad®" subscription packages, which include a selection of over 35 faith-based channels and VOD content available for live streaming on your PC, Roku streaming player or iPad®.
