A kidnapping occurred on August 3, 2013 when 16-year-old Hannah Anderson (born July 22, 1997)[1] was abducted by 40-year-old James DiMaggio (January 17, 1973[2] – August 10, 2013). DiMaggio was killed by FBI agents in Cascade, Idaho where the teen was abducted. She was found alive.[3]

Event

DiMaggio was a family friend of the Anderson's, of San Diego, California. He is suspected of killing Hannah's mother, Christina Anderson, and her 8-year-old brother, Ethan. Their bodies were found in DiMaggio's burning house.[4] Amber alerts were in place, stating the suspect's car, a blue Nissan Versa heading north towards the California-Oregon border on U.S. Route 395 around 1:30 pm (Pacific Time).[5] It was reported that DiMaggio had a "crush" on the teen girl, which he admitted while he was driving her and a friend to a gymnastics meet.[6]
