Temple Emanu-El is a Reform Jewish congregation in Birmingham, Alabama ,

Wellcoming his members in prayer, study, fellowship, and acts of loving kindness for the family and the local community.

History

The first Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur were celebrated in 1881.

Before the synagogue was built, for the public worship services, the community met at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

The synagoge building was inagurated on January 24, 1889.[1]

For more than 100 years, Temple Emanu-El has been providing Jewish families in the community with a place to gather, worship and celebrate. In order to ensure that this tradition continues, in 1979 a permanent Endowment Fund with a separate Board of Directors was created to provide the community with the necessary financial means.
