Hello. I'm a new Wikipedian, and am just starting to get the hang of editing. I've got the markup basically down, and am looking forward to starting to make articles.

I'm using my Rough Draft page to test out various features.

Created Pages list pages I've started or made (IMHO) a major contribution to. For vanity and reference when I try to do similar things.

Senator Template is my basic outline for the pages I'm creating of historic U.S. Senators.

Subjects

I'm hoping to work on computer science related subjects, as well as some history of various wars.

Current Project(s)

I'm bouncing around various projects with backlogs. Pruning Find-a-Grave is one, adding the last few Senators, adding congressional districts and successional boxes, etc.

Thoughts on Wikipedia

It seems to me that right now there is little need for me to work on mainstream articles on wikipedia. One thing I have always been impressed with is the quality and length of controversial articles like global warming and evolution. However, it seems to me that where wikipedia tends to be weaker is on articles where there is little activity or interest. These aren't necessarily unimportant articles, just not controversial ones. They make huge backlogs like on the list of pages to be wikified, and make the system slower to respond to new calls for wikification and improvement.

So I think I'll work for a while on trying to reduce the backlog on pages like that, trying to hold down the huge mass of articles that need basic improvement.

Est omnino difficile iudicare inclusionis meritum cuiusdam rei in encyclopædia cum ratio sciendi quid populi referat incerta sit, sed nihilominus aliquid encyclopædiam dedecet

It is generally difficult to judge the worthiness of a particular topic for inclusion in an encyclopedia considering that there is no certain way to know what interests people, but some topics nevertheless are not fit for an encyclopedia.

This motto reflects the desire of these Wikipedians to be reluctant, but not entirely unwilling, to remove articles from Wikipedia.
