The Montreal Biennale (BNL MTL) is a bi-annual multidisciplinary arts event to confront the Quebec and [[Canada}} Canadian art to those of foreign artists around common issues and concepts corresponding to "the timeliness of the art".

Founded in 1998 by Claude Gosselin and administered by the International Contemporary Art of Montreal Center (CWC), the BNL MTL setting decompartmentalizes artistic practices by bringing together artists from the visual arts, landscape architecture, graphic design or object, video and film. It is also a place of exchange and debate including seminars and conferences and a wide program of educational activities .

BNL MTL uses different venues for its presentation. Some are already linked to the art (galleries, museums), while others (parks, warehouses etc.) offer a new relationship between the work and the public.
