Pungeşti is a commune in Vaslui County, Romania. It is composed of nine villages: Armăşoaia, Curseşti-Deal, Curseşti-Vale, Hordila, Pungeşti, Rapşa, Siliştea, Stejaru and Toporăşti. It became popular in late 2013, when a series of protests against shale gas exploatation turned into violent clashes with the Geandarmerie (Romania) troops sent to maintain order.
