Alexander Gordon (general)

Alexander Gordon of Auchintool (1669–1752) was a Scottish general who fought for the Russian army under Peter the Great, and for the Jacobites in the 1715 rising.

He is mentioned as "Sandy Don" in the song Cam Ye O'er Fae France.

He wrote a History of Peter the Great which is now available online.
