Dr James Popple (born 1964[1]) is the Australian Freedom of Information Commissioner.[2] He is also an Adjunct Professor in the College of Law and the College of Engineering and Computer Science at the Australian National University.[3]

As part of his PhD research at the Australian National University, he developed a legal expert system called SHYSTER.[4]
