the real heather chandler

Does this have anything to do with the real highschooler named Heather Chandler who died before recording vocals that would be used years later in the song "in my head" by Bionik phunk? seems extremely similar, or is it just fiction. Never seen the movie but I knew heather Chandler in real life. Even if it wasn't the same means of suicide, is it possible that heather chandler was based on the actual heather chandler who died of suicide? I don't know if it's fiction or based off a real heather chandler (meaning the heather chandler i mentioned.) I ask as it is too much of a coinsidence. roughly the same age, both popular gals (the real one's vocals were used 20 years later in a song for heaven's sake) similar means of death. I ask because i knew the real Heather Chandler before she died.
