John Ellis Bowlt

John Ellis Bowlt (London 1943) is an art historian author and editor[1][2][3][4] specializing in the art and design, including stage design, of the Russian/Soviet avant garde 1900-1930. He is a professor at the University of Southern California and directs its Institute of Modern Russian Culture.

In 2009 he received the Order of Friendship from the former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.[5]. He has received numerous awards and scholarships, such as the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship and the Fullbright-Hays Award, Paris.[6]
