Future User are an American rock band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2013,[1] the group consists of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave bassist Tim Commerford, multi-instrumentalist Jordan Tarlow and drummer Jon Knox. They describe their music as 'Progtronic', combining electronic music with progressive rock.[2] Their first few music videos features frontman Commerford disguised under the persona 'S.W.I.M.' until he revealed himself in the video for 'Mountain Lion'. The band's videos have also featured high profile celebrities such as tennis legend John McEnroe, cyclist Lance Armstrong and comic book legend Stan Lee.[2] Their debut album SteroidsOrHeroin was released on iTunes on 24 February 2015.[3]

Background

Tim Commerford formed Future User along with Jordan Tarlow, a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist who does keyboards and the programming in the music. It is the first band where Commerford sings lead vocal as he only contributed backing vocals with Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. On September 1, 2014, the band released their first video called 'Clockwork' where Commerford, disguised as alias 'S.W.I.M.', legitimately subjects former tennis star John McEnroe to waterboarding. Stan Lee makes a brief cameo in their second video 'Supernatural'. Their most recent video of the song 'Mountain Lion' features cyclist Lance Armstrong as well as a voice message sent to Commerford by Armstrong with the latter challenging Tim to a personal cycling contest. Commerford also performs a blood transfusion and injects a PED in the video. When he reveals himself in the final part of the video, he then lit himself on fire.

On February 24, 2015, they released their debut album SteroidsOrHeroin on iTunes and are planning on releasing the album on vinyl later on in the year. The album features additional guitars from Brendan O'Brien who produced two of Rage Against the Machine's albums.
