Udaya Bhanu is an Indian presenter and film actress. She made her career debut at age 15, beginning to work as a television presenter in Telugu channels. Since, she has evolved as one of the most popular and successful Telugu television personalities.[2][3][4] She has also appeared in several Telugu and Kannada films.

Early life

Udaya Bhanu was born in Sultanabad, Karimnagar, Telangana, India. Her father S. K. Patel was a doctor, her mother Aruna is an Ayurvedic doctor. She has one brother, Lenin, who works as a software engineer.[3] Her father also worked as a poet; Udaya Bhanu was named after his pen name.[5] He died when Udaya Bhanu was four years old.[5] Udaya Bhanu studied in Sultanabad till her 10th class and went on to pursue an MA degree in literature.

Career

She is one of the numerous popular Telugu TV anchors. Currently, she is hosting six shows on six channels. She became the highest paid host in Telugu television industry. She started acting at 15 years of age with Hridayanjali. She followed it up with shows like Once More Please co-anchoring Venu Madhav, Sahasam Cheyara Dimbhaka, Jaanavule Nerajaanavule, Nee Illu Bangaram Kaanu, Dhee, Rela Re Rela and many others. She made her acting debut in R. Narayana Murthy's Erra Sainyam (1990), when she was studying in 10th class.[5] She appeared in few more Telugu films, including Kondaveeti Simhasanam (2002), Qaidi Brothers (2002) and Shravana Masam (2005). She also played lead roles in a couple of Kannada films and has acted in an unreleased Tamil film Chinna Ramasamy Periya Ramasamy co-starrig Jayaram by R. V. Udayakumar.[5] She performed item numbers in three Telugu films Aapada Mokkula Vaadu (2008), Leader (2010) and Julai (2012) alongside Allu Arjun.[1] She also hosted many audio launches,movie award functions.

Television shows

She started to act as an anchor in some shows like "Aaha Emi Ruchi" which was telecast on Gemini TV (2008), Dhee South India's biggest dance show in ETV Telugu and "Rangam" dance show in MAA TV. She also presented Box Lo Bangaram in Gemini TV and Tadakha in ETV.

Personal life

Udaya Bhanu was born in Zameendar family of Karimnagar District, Her Father SKM Patel also known as Gowravelli Patel, a Doctor, Revolutionary Poet, Philanthropist and was Communist Party Leader, He was elected as the President of Koheda Village for three terms unanimously, He donated most of his hereditary land to poor villagers and was involved in a lot of charity work in Koheda, Most of his literary work was on people's struggle and pain, he wrote a lot of revolutionary poems, inspired by his poetry and philanthropic work the scholars and the villagers of Koheda Facilitated him with Udaya bhanu (Rising Sun) accolade, since then he used Udaya Bhanu as his Pen name for his literary work, when a girl child was born on 6 November 1980, he Named her after his pen name and named her Udaya Bhanu He died when Udayabhanu was four years old and donated his body for research in his will, Village scholars and leaders concerted his statue in the village as memorial.

Udaya Bhanu's Mother Aruna M is an Ayurvedic Doctor, Poet and presently pursuing her passion as a farmer in Gambirraopet village of Telangana, She has published her songs as a book titled "Janapada Maduryalu" and many of her songs were sung by reputed folk singers on Akashavani, all india radio and stage programs. Udaya Bhanu also sung several of her Mother's songs in her popular show 'Relare Rela"

Udaya Bhanu is affiliated with several charitable trusts and spends her leisure time in charity work, however she believes in deeds than publicising her philanthropic work. She is known for her dare devilry, She is never afraid of taking a stand for good and question the untruth, her program Niggadeesi Adugu for TV9, where she questions famous political leaders on their scams and issues was quite an example of her boldness, inheriting the poetic and political traits she her self wrote few songs and sung them in her programs Ganga Garudalethukellera song went viral on YouTube, She is also planning to write a book, And good at painting and has done few good portraits using pencil.
