Annika Taylor (born 4 June, 1993) is a cross-country skier with joint British and American nationality.[1]

Early life and education

Born in Truckee, California, Taylor is the daughter of Betsy and Peter Taylor.[2] She holds British and American citizenship as her father is originally from the United Kingdom.[1]

She has been cross-country skiing since the age of 2 and racing since the age of 5.[3] As a junior, she raced for California’s Auburn Ski Club and the Far West Ski Association, winning three California State Championships and notching three top-10 finishes at National Junior Championships.[1] She raced for the University of New Hampshire skiing team from 2011 to 2015, while pursuing a degree in chemistry and graduating in 2015 May.[3]

Skiing career

In 2013 November, Taylor changed her nationality from the United States of America to the United Kingdom.[4] In 2014 January, her first racing for British came at the Swiss National Championships in Leysin.[3] In 2014 February, she competed at the FIS U23 Nordic World Ski Championships 2014 in Val di Fiemme, her best result is 35th in the Skiathlon. In 2015 January, she placed 9th in the 20 km classic mass start at the United States National Championships in Houghton.

After graduating from university in 2015 May, she continued skiing for British National Team and joined the Sugar Bowl Academy Elite Team based on California.Cite error: The <ref> tag has too many names (see the help page).[1] In 2015 November, she made her FIS Cross-Country World Cup debut in Ruka, placed 50th in the Sprint classic. In 2016 February, she competed at the FIS U23 Nordic World Ski Championships 2016 in Râșnov, her best result is 30th in the 10km free. At the end of 2016 season, she competed at the 2016 Ski Tour Canada, placed 42nd overall.

In 2016 May, she moved to Lillehammer and joined the Team Coop Talent, which is the elite branch off of the Lillehammer SK.[5] In February 2017, she competed at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti, her best result is 38th in the Sprint free and 30km free mass start.
