For the 1962 James Clavell novel, see King Rat.

King Rat is the 1998 debut novel by China Miéville. It is a dark urban fantasy set in London and interweaving the phenomenon of the Rat king and the myth of The Pied Piper of Hamelin against an aesthetic of drum'n'bass and jungle music.
