Nila Tanzil (born in Jakarta, April 29, 1976) is a children's advocacy literacy in rural areas in eastern Indonesia. Nila Tanzil is a founder of Taman Bacaan Pelangi[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]. Nila Tanzil graduated from Parahyangan Catholic University and hold a master degree from The University of Amsterdam.

Taman Bacaan Pelangi

Nila initiated the first pilot library called Taman Bacaan Pelangi in Labuan Bajo, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. Firstly, she brings 200 books to a village in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia in 2009[11][12]. Until 2017, she already builds 55 libraries in several provinces, including East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, South Sulawesi, Papua[4] and gives more than 80,000 books, and this number are still growing[10]. She chooses eastern part of Indonesia because it is underdeveloped areas in Indonesia. Even, some children in eastern Indonesia are illiterate. In 2016, she published her first book called Lembar-Lembar Pelangi, which tells the story to build libraries in eastern Indonesia[13][14].
