Giancarlo Meo – Biography

Giancarlo Meo started his career as record producer back in the ‘80s soon to become one of the founders of the Italian dance-movement which became very popular outside Italy, too.

He founded Banana Records and together with maestro Claudio Simonetti brought to success artists such as EASY GOING, VIVIEN VEE, KASSO and CAPRICORN.

During the same years he produced the hit song “GIOCA JOUER” performed by Claudio Cecchetto, still a very popular dance song with adults and children.

At the beginning of the ‘90s he created the trade mark HIT MANIA, which to date stands for best selling compilation albums of dance and pop music. HIT MANIA compilations have millions of listeners and a very large fan base of music supporters who now can also enjoy the monthly HIT MANIA MAGAZINE. Other important publications launched by the group headed by Giancarlo Meo include: EURODANCE, HIT PARADE DANCE, HITSTORY and EXOTICA all available in newsagents and in record shops as they all include compilation albums.

Hit Mania’s success is linked to that of some of the most successful music artists, like: band LUNAPOP, its lead singer CESARE CREMONINI, HAIDUCII [top of the European charts with song “Dragostea Din Tei”], ZERO ASSOLUTO, 2BLACK, FRANCO CALIFANO, AVENTURA [with the hit single ‘Obsésion’], PIOTTA, CRAZY FROG.

Group UNIVERSO represents nowadays a 9.3% share of the market in the music industry; its music products have reached #1 in the official sales charts 34 times.

The group UNIVERSO-HITMANIA is nowadays also involved in New Media activities [from ring-tones to video tones and web exploitation] as well as in the publishing business [magazines ‘Amori Vip’, ‘IT Girl’ ‘Hit Mania Magazine’ ‘Love Meetings’ and many more].
