Remake

hi interqwark. regarding Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu And Let's Go Eevee. Its Been Confirmed By The Developers. that they are Remakes of Pokemon Yellow. so Saying Its not technically a remake is invalid. i Hope you change the edit cause it is incorrect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shizunetut (talkcontribs) 8:21, 22 June 2018 (UTC)

@Shizunetut: Hi. A remake is a game built again from the ground up. Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! are based on Pokémon Yellow but are not remakes of that game. If you disagree, please discuss on the article’s talk page instead of edit warring. Thank you. Tantamounts talk contribs 09:46, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

New Super Mario Bros.

@The1337gamer: I’m blocked, so I can’t post on your talk page, but why did you change New Super Mario Bros. (series) from an article back to a redirect page? Tantamounts talk contribs 14:25, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's not a separate series from Super Mario. Just because it has "New" in front of the title, doesn't mean it should have a separate page. --The1337gamer (talk) 14:47, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@The1337gamer: What makes Mario Kart, Mario Party, Mario Tennis, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Wario, etc., separate series but not New Super Mario Bros.? There are four New Super Mario Bros. games and one expansion pack. That sounds like a series to me. Sources, and Nintendo themselves, also call it a series. A series is just a number of similar things coming one after another, and NSMB fits that description. I think it’d be beneficial to have an article about the series as a whole, which is why I wrote the article. Tantamounts talk contribs 15:01, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Also, wouldn’t it be better to put it up at WP:AfD instead of reverting to a redirect? Tantamounts talk contribs 21:18, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@The1337gamer: Not to bother you, but can you reply? Tantamounts talk contribs 16:29, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • What makes Mario Kart, Mario Party, Mario Tennis, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Wario, etc., separate series but not New Super Mario Bros.?
Completely different gameplay and reliable sources consider them to be separate series. New Super Mario Bros. games are platformers which share the same core gameplay as the rest of 2D Super Mario games. You'll find far more sources that consider it part of the Super Mario series than sources that consider it separate. The only difference is Nintendo prefixed "New" on title purely for marketing purposes. The latest 2D title in the series, Super Mario Maker, even includes the New Super Mario Bros. tileset.
  • A series is just a number of similar things coming one after another, and NSMB fits that description.
And this exact argument is a reason for why should not have a separate article, because it is already the same gameplay and series as Super Mario. You're literally just creating a page for something we already have a topic in. Expanding and improving the existing article would more constructive...
  • Also, wouldn’t it be better to put it up at WP:AfD instead of reverting to a redirect?
Not really. Read point C at WP:BEFORE: If the topic is not important enough to merit an article on its own, consider merging or redirecting to an existing article. This should be done particularly if the topic name is a likely search term. This is exactly what I did.

@The1337gamer: Thanks for the reply. News outlets and Nintendo’s official websites do call New Super Mario Bros. a series. The Mario wiki also calls it a series and has an individual article about it. By definition, it is a series. I think what matters is whether there should be an article about it, not whether it’s a series. I would consult Wikipedia:Third opinion but can’t since I’m blocked. I would like to know someone else’s view on this, though. I think it’d be nice to let the series have its own article as the NSMB games are very different to the older Super Mario games (albeit with all four games being identical). Could you ask another editor about their opinion as well? Tantamounts talk contribs 18:51, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
