{{adminhelpme}} Saratov corrupted by 15 January edits. How do we roll back to 9 January version? - Maliepa (talk) 18:11, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

 Done. JohnCD (talk) 18:14, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
For future reference, you could have done it yourself.
  1. In the editing history of the article click on the time stamp of the version you want to go back to (on this occasion 21:04, 9 January 2011), which will open that version.
  2. Click on the "Edit" tab to edit the page.
  3. Provide a suitable edit summary to explain what you are doing.
  4. Save the page. JamesBWatson (talk) 18:21, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) I was coming back to explain the same, but JBW has explained it more clearly. Only thing to add: it's good practice in your edit summary to reference the version you are going back to, e.g. "RV vandalism to version by EmausBot at 21:04, 9 January." JohnCD (talk) 18:27, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Hi, thank you for your contribution to it:Diocesi di Modone. Could you provide references for the information you wrote? Have a nice day. --Avemundi (talk) 03:32, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're quite welcome. I have several sources for the bishops where I updated names and added dates.
  1. For Bonaventura Madaliński from Hierarchia Catholica Medii Aevi, v. 5, p. 266, see pl:Bonawentura Madaliński.
  2. For Hieronim Władysław Sanguszko from Hierarchia Catholica Medii Aevi, v. 4, p. 240, see v. 4, p. 318 and it:Diocesi di Smolensk and pl:Hieronim Władysław Sanguszko.
  3. For Marianus (Cyprianus) from Hierarchia Catholica Medii Aevi, v. 3, p. 251, see Jan Kurczewski, Kościół zamkowy czyli katedra wileńska w jej dziejowym, liturgicznym, architektonicznym i ekonomicznym rozwoju, Nakład i Druk Józefa Zawadzkiego, Vilnius (1908), p. 322 (available from Google books) and pl:Biskupi sufragani wileńscy. Both give his year of death as 1594, though Kurczewski misprints the last period of his life as 1592-1584.
  4. For Georgius Albinus from Hierarchia Catholica Medii Aevi, v. 3, p. 251, see Kurczewski and pl:Biskupi sufragani wileńscy. Again both agree that his year of death was 1570.
  5. I didn't change Feliks, but both Kurczewski and pl:Biskupi sufragani wileńscy say that he preceded rather than followed Jerzy Albinus. Kurczewski cites him as titular bishop of Caffenus instead of Methonensis. See Hierarchia Catholica Medii Aevi, v. 3, p. 145.
Maliepa (talk) 03:03, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Kurczewski also lists Jerzy Chwalczewski. I have found two Polish sources that imply that he was named titular bishop of Methonensis in 1525, but neither states this explicitly. Still searching. See also Hierarchia Catholica Medii Aevi, v. 3, p. 229.

Hi Mark, first of all thank you for your precious contributions. At it.wiki we try to match high quality criteria, both to offer readers reliable information and to keep the same format on all the articles about dioceses. To do so, we have a project to coordinate our work. I'd really like you to join the project and to follow the project talk, so our common efforts will be even more efficient. Have a nice day. --Avemundi (talk) 22:58, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Eubel, vol 8

Hi, I have noticed you quoted Eubel vol. 8. Have you found it on-line or could you read the book on paper? It would be so important to find an on-line version (the same applies for vol. 9). Please reply on it.wiki. Have a good day! --Avemundi (talk) 19:58, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I recently purchased paper copies of Eubel vols. 7 and 8. Catholic-hierarchy.org has most of the information from these volumes, but is weak on identifying Apostolic Vicars and Apostolic Visitors. In addition, all of the Apostolic Visitors to Moldavia in vol. 7 have not been posted there yet. – Maliepa (talk) 01:17, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

See of Tolemaide

Ciao. Ti chiedo se puoi controllare in Eubel 7 e 8 le sedi di it:Diocesi di Tolemaide di Fenicia, it:Diocesi di Tolemaide di Libia and it:Arcidiocesi di Tolemaide di Tebaide. The cronotassi is not clear (!?). Croberto68 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.81.68.157 (talk) 10:03, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

– Maliepa (talk) 23:41, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Grazie! Croberto68 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.81.68.157 (talk) 06:48, 3 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sulz vs. Selz Ukraine

Thanks for fixing my mistake, I've always thought they were different spellings of the same place. My grandfather is from one of those places, I need to check my sources. I think I've seen it spelled both ways in people's genealogy work, but amateur genealogy is notoriously inaccurate, of course. I take it both places are Black Sea German settlements? Valfontis (talk) 01:31, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, both the Kutschurgan Valley and the Beresaner Valley were fertile farmlands that drain to the Black Sea. While making the correction, I discovered that Lawrence Welk's parents came to North Dakota from Selz. – Maliepa (talk) 01:51, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the info. And yes, Dad always said we were related to Lawrence Welk, so we must be from Selz also. Valfontis (talk) 03:52, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Arcidiocesi di Maronea

Ciao. Please check again Eubel: Jean-Baptiste-François Pompallier ends in 1869; but Karl Pooten started in 1844 and Athanase Khouzan in 1855 (!). By Google translation (I hope to have translated well !) ‎Croberto68 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.81.68.157 (talk) 14:10, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Eubel elenca tutti questi vescovi sotto "Maronea (de) seu Maronien(sis) (Maronea) in Rhodope, tit." (non metrop.). Ferrarelli e Pompallier sono "eccl. ep.lem de Maronea". Senza questi due la sequenza non si sovrappone. Tutti gli altri sono "Maronien.". – Maliepa (talk) 14:55, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ciao. Mi hai preceduto nella stesura della voce. Sarebbe però utile sapere in base a quale fonte identifichi Targa con Tagarata. Croberto68 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.81.68.157 (talk) 06:54, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Eubel vol. 5 e vol. 6 indicano che Targa è in "Africa Proconsulari sub metrop. Carthiginen."
Croberto68 --91.81.68.157 (talk) 13:14, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Diocesi di Arca

Ciao. Ti chiedo un aiuto! Se puoi controllare in Eubel VII e VIII le sedi di it:Sede titolare di Archis, it:Diocesi di Arca di Armenia e it:Diocesi di Arca di Fenicia. Grazie! --91.81.68.157 (talk) 11:59, 23 July 2012 (UTC) (Croberto68)[reply]

Ho eliminato i duplicati, ma non riuscì a risolvere completamente la confusione. C'è davvero una sola sede latina prima del 1954. Eubel riporta Crespo y Bautista Arcen. in Phoenicia e Le Nordez Arcen. in Armenia.

Template

I've been thinking about template Template:Castles in Latvia, which should be filled in, and a better way to distinguish those places which are in ruins from those preserved. I saw this in one of the lists (castles or manors, I don't remember). Let's discuss this with another User so we become three editing. Any suggestion of your preference ? Krenakarore TK 14:09, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know about ruins vs. preserved, but I like the division into regions in the Latvian template. There are too many manors to lump them all together. We could divide by region, then subdivide by castle, palace, manor, ruins, etc. – Maliepa (talk) 14:34, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Do we really need a collective template for all these objects? If we look at the website of the Association of the Castles, Palaces and Manors of Latvia, we can see that the former Daugavpils District alone has 39 entries in total. Are you sure, when new articles appear, it won't be too bulky? I guess for that reason the Latvian wiki has a separate template for medieval castles. --glossologist (talk) 18:05, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think you're both correct. To have it separate by 5 cultural regions seems logic. As we're talking about history here, a "timeline" idea could also be added to the template. So let's leave the "ruins vs. preserved" to a better List of Castles and List of Palaces and Manors. Subdivide them how ?
You're right, we can't make it bulky. The Castles in Latvia template also lists palaces and manors. You're suggesting another template right ? Krenakarore TK 11:55, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe we could first of all divide it into 5 templates, each containing all castles, palaces and manors of one of the culture-historical regions? Another option could be not having any template at all, because we already have the objects listed on separate pages (List of castles in Latvia & List of palaces and manor houses in Latvia) and a link to one of these lists in the See also section would suffice. --glossologist (talk) 13:06, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I see your point, but the list(s) could be improved to distinguish those which are in ruins from those which are not, or under reconstruction, and even relate those which belonged to the Livonian Order from those that didn't, and that's something which could never be alocated in a template. Those lists should be bettered anyway. I beliwve 5 templates would be too much, once we have only castles, palaces and manors (this will be discussed in more detail on the template talk page. Others have the right to speak up their minds too). You see, Maliepa and I are playing a game... that is, I do something, he does something better, I then better what he did until he comes up with a better idea. You see, it's not only placing info on the articles, but making them more presentable. It has nothing to do with knowing more. It feels good to me when I learn from you. Show me more...:) ! Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. Hi. I see you are listed as a member of a WikiProject of a Baltic state. I was wondering if anybody who actively works on Estonian, Lithuanian or Latvian articles, would be interested in launching your own Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Baltic), based on the Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic) and Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea would be to try to bring about 1000 article improvements and creations on this region as an enjoyable challenge and potentially things like National Contests with prizes. If you'd be interested and think it's something you might regularly contribute to, comment and sign up at Talk:Baltic states. If there is interest we can move this to a project somewhere and set something up, thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 19:26, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 10:02, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ambassador to Fiji

Hi Maliepa, I reverted your addition of the Fiji ambassador due to it being a Career FSO. There is a consensus from this RFC in October 2017 that said remove/don't add Career FSO members/positions to the page. Just wanted to let you know in case you weren't aware. Thanks, Corky 15:58, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the information. Though, personally, I think that replacing senior foreign service officers with non-career appointees is a very political thing to do. – Maliepa (talk) 16:31, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Hey, Maliepa! Thank you for correcting my mistakes at Political appointments by Donald Trump! Apparently I didn't check to see if it was correct when I change the date format with the tool (not sure why it didn't just change the format)... do you think it's best to go back to the MM/DD/YYYY instead of Month Day, Year format? Corky 19:54, 10 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No, the current format is better. MM/DD/YYYY and DD/MM/YYYY are too easily confused. – Maliepa (talk) 20:03, 10 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mark Menezes

Hey Maliepa, are you able to find a larger version of this image. I was able to find his official image for DOE, but can't find a larger image... Corky 21:03, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No, I can't find any useful versions larger than 300×300 pixels. I found one instance of 200×200 pixels and one heavily edited larger version in this image. – Maliepa (talk) 21:54, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Alrighty, thanks! I may send an email to the Department and see if they are willing to provide the image... or maybe update their website! Corky 04:42, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Found one [1] finally! I've uploaded it. Corky 02:52, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

White House photos

Here is a website for you... I don't believe all are PD-USGov images, but there are some that are definitely White House photos... none have been uploaded. Corky 02:38, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I was running out of conference presentations and speaking engagements.
I have also been trying to find a picture of the correct Daniel P. Walsh, who is a retired Coast Guard officer that also worked as a military aide in the George W. Bush and Obama White Houses. The image available on Commons is a Ph.D. chemist who works on preventing chemical attacks against the Pentagon. – Maliepa (talk) 12:15, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
For reference, there are copyrighted images of Capt. Dan Walsh at a November 2016 press event here and here. Dr. Ronny Jackson is partially obscured in the back row of the second photo. – Maliepa (talk) 13:34, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I think that Michael Berry (Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs) may in fact be Michael Barry (U.S. official). It wouldn't be the first misspelling in a White House press release. – Maliepa (talk) 12:55, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, Maliepa, I forgot about this section (may want to ping me in the future or do a talkback on my talk page ). I certainly didn't ignore you on purpose! Good to know on Walsh, I couldn't find a (correct) picture of him anywhere... but I'll keep looking! And I think you may be right on Barry... [2]. If you haven't yet, I would go ahead and make the change on the page to correct the spelling error... Corky 02:59, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Lt Gen Maryanne Miller fourth star nomination

That is very interesting. Miller is a career reserve officer, and for a reserve officer be nominated for a fourth star extremely rare. There is only one known four-star position that follows a reserve officer pipeline and that's the Chief of the National Guard Bureau and currently General Lengyel still has two more years remaining and I haven't heard of him requesting for early retirement. U.S. Northern Command's deputy commander has been a reserve officer three-star since 2008 (also particularly from the National Guard), and there was once talk about making the commander of USNORTHCOM a four-star officer from the National Guard, but that never came to fruition. Even now, General O'Shaughnessy only assumed command of USNORTHCOM this past May, so that rules out that job going to Miller. Her career, staff positions and commands held, are pretty broad throughout her career, so I can't make heads or tails on what current-known four-star position she may be inheriting. My hunch is that they are opening up a new four-star position for her. I hope they announce something soon. It's killing my curiosity. Neovu79 (talk) 09:35, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

After doing a thorough review of the remaining four-star positions, so far I see one likely and two outside possibilities. Generals Ellen M. Pawlikowski and Carlton D. Everhart II and Admiral Kurt W. Tidd are all scheduled to retire. That makes U.S. Southern Command, Air Force Materiel Command and Air Mobility Command available. Out of the three, Air Mobility Command is the most likely destination for Miller, in my opinion. Miller has a lot of experience as a commander of reserve air forces, particularly in air mobility and airlift, which AMC encompasses. In the earlier part of her career, she's flown in a hand full of the aircraft AMC uses. But most importantly, a good portion of AMC is comprised of reserve airmen and Air National Guardsmen. Neovu79 (talk) 14:03, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
To add to the mystery, the Maryanne Miller and John Murray nominations were sent on to the full Senate by the Committee on Armed Services on July 31 without having held any hearings. – Maliepa (talk) 12:32, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Miller's replacement at Air Force Reserve Command will be her current deputy Richard W. Scobee, the son of Space Shuttle Challenger Astronaut Dick Scobee. Maybe the press will finally pick up their coverage on these appointments. – Maliepa (talk) 21:51, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just thought you would want to know, that on August 13, 2018, President Trump signed into law, the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019. It includes the re-establishment of the U.S. Space Command by the end of 2018. It will temporarily be a sub-unified combatant command under U.S. Strategic Command, who's commander will be a four-star general or flag officer, , until it can be separated as a full unified combatant command. National Guard (United States)???

I've recently submitted a request to move National Guard of the United States to National Guard (United States), and I want to get your honest feedback on the subject. Neovu79 (talk) 16:26, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I think that your proposed name is better. United States National Guard is also better than the current article name, which seems somehow awkward to me. – Maliepa (talk) 16:42, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

pictures

Hi Maliepa some times you get some of us headacks I am not trying to be mean to you. But sometimes you put the picture on one page and don't put the pictures on the others. So Corkythehornetfan and I have to add it for you. For exampale on John H. Gibson you forgot to add Succeeded by Lisa Hershman Acting. And I had to add that and just today I added the date for you becuse I looked at the Ambassader website and I put the date for you. and you added the picture to United States Ambassadors appointed by Donald Trump and you forgot to add the picture to List of ambassadors of the United States to Kosovo and Philip S. Kosnett so I added it. For you becuse you did not. I hope you Understand. Thank you and look forward for your responce.96.36.68.29 (talk) 02:39, 5 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I only found a cropped headshot of Ambassador Kosnett on Twitter. I was waiting for the embassy or the State Department to post the full official Ambassador image before updating the other two pages. I thought that the previous Deputy Chief of Mission image would be more than adequate in the meantime. As for the Gibson infobox, I am not an expert on these and always appreciate any improvements others make. – Maliepa (talk) 03:09, 5 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
