The ST-I or Skorostrelnova Tanka-I is a heavy tank designed by Valentin Asikritovich Ganin.
History
The development of the ST-I began in 1945 by Valentin Asikritovich Ganin. The name “Skorostrelnova Tanka-I” means fast-firing tank. Ganin believed that existing heavy tanks had a number of shortcomings and thus created the ST-I project to solve them.
ST-I
The ST-I was planned to use the same chassis as the IS-4. The ST-I tank had an enlarged turret in order to install the gun and the shells in it for easy access to the ammunitions. The turret was designed to be waterproof so that the tank can ford immediately. The turret was also planned to have an electric motor to improve turret traverse. There are three hatches in the turret for easy escape for the crew. In addition, a ventilation system was installed in the turret to improve the efficiency of the crew.[1]
The gun was serviced by two loaders to increase the rate of fire. It had a gun stabilizer to improve accuracy. Secondary armament included two machine guns and an anti-aircraft gun.[1]
ST-II
The ST-II is a unique tank and a variant of the ST-I. It was planned to have two guns for a number of reasons. The twin guns will improve the rate of fire, increase the chance of immediate destruction of the target and provide a backup in case one gun fails. The two guns will be loaded by two loaders and is mounted in a modified ST-I turret. The tank is also equipped with two machine guns. The tank is designed on the same chassis as the ST-I and has the same characteristics.[1]

The project never went past the design stage.

The A-44 is a medium tank designed by A.Ber.
History
In early 1941, designer Alexander Alexandrovich Morozov who participated in the design of the A-43 proposed an interesting idea of a medium tank armed with a powerful gun. Having examined A. A. Morozov’s proposal, the head of KB-24 of plant No. 183 in March 1941 agreed with ABTU on the requirements for a new middle class tank that received the factory designation A-44.[1]
Description
The A-44 was to be built on the chassis of the A-43 which has a higher weight limit. The A-44 was to have a weight of 35 tons, 75-120 mm of armour at the front and 60-100 mm of armour at the sides. The transmission was placed in the front of the hull with the engine located in the center of the hull. The turret was placed at the rear.
Three guns were initially considered, 57mm ZIS-4, 76.2mm F-34 and 107mm F-42. In the end, the 57mm ZIS-4 gun was chosen. Secondary armaments included three 7.62mm DS-39 machine guns and two 12.7mm DSHK machine guns located in the front of the hull, rear of the turret and on top of the turret.
The chassis of the A-44 had 7 road wheels, 4 support rollers, 1 drive wheel and 1 rear wheel on each side. The suspension was torsion bar. The engine could output 600 hp, allowing the tank to reach speeds of 50-55 km/h.[1]
Development
In May 1941, at a meeting of the commission, the A-44 team presented a 1:10 scale tank model. Project A-44 was approved and a prototype was to be built by 1942. However, due to the outbreak of war and the subsequent evacuation of enterprises, the A-44 project was abandoned.[1]
