Before the Partition of Ireland in 1920–22, Ireland formed a single jurisdiction. New Courts of Northern Ireland were established in 1921. Some of the pre-1922 courts remained in existence in the Irish Free State until the Courts of Justice Act 1924 established new courts under the 1922 Constitution of the Irish Free State.
