GFriend (Korean: 여자친구; RR: Yeoja Chingu) is a six-member South Korean girl group formed by Source Music in 2015.[1] They made their debut with the EP Season of Glass on January 15, 2015.[2] GFriend gained impressive scores on various music charts and music programs in just 12 days since their debut.[3]

History

2015-present: Debut, Season of Glass, and Flower Bud

On January 15, 2015, GFriend released their debut EP Season of Glass.[4] The album consists of five tracks; its promotional track, "Glass Bead" was composed by Seo Yong Bae.[5] It debuted at number twelve on Gaon's weekly chart.[6] The group started promotions for their album on January 16 on KBS's music program Music Bank.[7]

On July 23, 2015, GFriend released their second EP Flower Bud.[8] The album consists of six tracks; the title track is "'오늘부터 우리는'"(Me gustas tu). The music video for "'오늘부터 우리는'"(Me gustas tu) was released on GFriend's official YouTube channel on July 23, 2015. GFriend started their group promotions on the same date as the album release, July 23, 2015 on Mnet's M! Countdown.[9] G-Friend were praised for coming from a small company yet giving very good results.[10]
